A gesture of Leo Messi in an act of the Generalitat is running like gunpowder by all media. 

The athlete received this Thursday, from the hands of the president of the Generalitat, Mr. De la Cruz de Sant Jordi, who has given him the Catalan government for the values of "humility and honesty" that he embodies and for his contribution to the future major pediatric oncology center of Europe.

At one point in the event, attendees have begun to shout slogans in favor of Catalan politicians arrested after the 1 October referendum. 

While everyone applauded, the athlete from Barcelona has stopped doing so. "Freedom, political prisoners," shouted all the attendants. All but Messi.




Messi was honored for his recognition as "the best footballer of all time" and for representing values such as "Humility, honesty, learning, creativity, team sense and respect" as well as his donation to the San Juan de Dios Hospital For the construction of the pediatric cancer Center.

The Argentine player is the second footballer awarded this award, after the late Johan Cruyff, whom the Catalan government decorated in 2006, as well as the fifth personality linked to Barça in getting it after the distinction of the club in 1992, Former President Agustí Montal in 2004 and the Agrupació Barça players in 2003.

In addition to the footballer, 27 other personalities have been awarded and 15 organizations have stood out for their merits and services to Catalonia.
