With the role of Edward Cullen in the  "Twilight " saga, Robert Pattinson became world famous. After that, the British actor appeared mainly in independent productions. Now he is on the verge of his biggest role. Pattinson is being traded as the next Batman performer.

 "I'm Batman. " It looks like Robert Pattinson will soon be able to claim the often parodied sentence. The British actor is about to step into the role of DC Comics superhero in  ' s "The Batman ." According to US media reports, he is the Warner Bros. film studio's top contestant for this. Both director Matt Reeves ( "Planet of the Apes: Survival ").


How far the negotiations between Pattinson and the studio executives are are, there is currently wild speculation in the media. Film magazine Variety wants to know that the parties were close to signing the contract. A statement from Warner Bros. It is not yet available. There is now a need for haste. Filming of  "The Batman " is reportedly already scheduled for the summer of this year. The theatrical release is scheduled to be released by the end of June 2021.

Robert Pattinson would slip into Ben Affleck's shoes as the new dark knight. The two-time Oscar winner had previously played the superhero in  ' s ' Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,'  ' Suicide Squad  ' and  ' Justice League  '. At  "The Batman " he should be both in front of and behind the camera. Nothing became of that. By January 2017, Affleck had dropped out of the project as a director on the grounds that he could not perform both tasks at a level fans expected.

In the same month two years later, it was confirmed that Affleck was also no longer on board as a performer. Whether his departure is cause or consequence of the new content course of  "The Batman " can only be speculated about at the moment. The superhero extravaganza is said to be about a younger version of the hero – which is why Reeves is said to want an actor between 25 and 33 for the role. Pattinson turned 33 on May 13.

Pattinson's next career jump


With  "The Batman," the British actor is taking the next big step in his remarkable career. Pattinson became world famous with the role of vampire Edward Cullen in the  "Twilight " saga. He didn't let himself be squeezed into the drawer of a teen crush afterward. Rather, he went into the independent niche, where he often played dodgy characters in ambitious auteur films. He made films with such renowned directors as David Cronenberg ( "Cosmopolis,"  "Maps to the Stars "), James Gray ( "The Sunken City of Z "), Anton Corbijn ( "Life ") and Claire Denis ( "High Life "). That he hasn't sworn off the large-scale blockbuster cinema shows his mainstay in Christopher Nolan's current emerging film and his willingness to be the next Batman.
