Frank Vogel, 45, is expected to lead the Los Angeles Lakers into a brighter future after disappointing years.
The 16-time NBA champion announced the commitment of the former head coach of the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic.
Vogel signed with superstar LeBron James ' club and German talents Moritz Wagner and Isaac Bonga on a long-term contract.
Kidd becomes assistant to Vogel
Vogel's assistant will be Jason Kidd, who won the championship in 2011 as a playmaker alongside Dirk Nowitzki with the Dallas Mavericks.
The 46-year-old has already gained experience as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.
